In a recent interview from 9:39 shared by Arise News, former APC National Vice Chairman (North-West), Salihu Lukman, expressed deep concern over the current state of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that the party has drifted away from its founding ideals.
Reflecting on his role in the party’s formation, Lukman said, “I feel disappointed having been among the founding members of the APC, knowing the vision that drove us to form it, and seeing where it is today.” He noted that the APC was originally established on principles aimed at promoting internal democracy, strong party structures, and people-centered governance. However, according to him, those principles appear to have weakened over time.
Lukman argued that the party’s internal mechanisms have been undermined, with elected officials now wielding excessive influence over party affairs, rather than being guided by party structures. He added that this shift has contributed to growing dissatisfaction among members and stakeholders.
The former APC chieftain also linked these concerns to broader political developments, including the increasing calls for opposition unity ahead of the 2027 general elections. He maintained that Nigerians are expecting credible alternatives and more accountable leadership.
