Former Zamfara State politician and recently departed APC member Kabir Marafa has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is well aware of the political limitations of Senator Abdulaziz Yari, insisting that the former Zamfara governor carries baggage that prevents him from taking bold political steps.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV from 17;29, Marafa explained that the president is surrounded by individuals who, despite their positions, are constrained by their past. “Mr. President is comfortable having people with a lot of baggage around him. And the people of the Northwest indeed know who these people are. That is why you said maybe Mr. Yari is there to do his bidding, cover his tracks and everything,” he said.
Marafa recalled Yari’s entry into the Senate, noting that his bid for the Senate presidency exposed his vulnerabilities. “Yari was offended when he came into the Senate and contested for the Senate presidency, but he could not do what I have done today because he has a lot of baggage. If he does what I have done today, he would not spend the next seven days seeing the light of day,” Marafa stated.
The former lawmaker maintained that Tinubu fully understands these dynamics, pointing out that the president knows where each political figure stands in Zamfara’s complex power structure.
