Wike’s aide, Lere Olayinka, has taken another swipe at Arise TV journalist, Rufai Oseni, accusing him of lacking proper journalism training and focusing too much on criticizing the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
In a lengthy post on his X account, Olayinka explained how payments to the government are officially made through REMITA, not in cash or directly into bank accounts. He broke down the process, noting that after payment, citizens first get a Remita receipt, then later collect a treasury receipt from the relevant government agency. According to him, any journalist investigating complaints about ground rent or land issues should first ask for proof of payment and confirm details before rushing to the public with the story.
Olayinka also reminded Oseni that under the Land Use Act, the government can revoke a Certificate of Occupancy if ground rent is not paid. He accused the journalist of failing to check if such terms were part of the certificate before making his claims.
Beyond the technical details, Olayinka launched personal attacks on Oseni. He mocked him for being unmarried at 45, claiming that if he had a wife, he wouldn’t be online at 4 a.m. “advertising mediocrity.” He further described Oseni as “an ex-convict” who still lacks the moral standing to speak for law-abiding Nigerians.
Olayinka said he could even help Oseni enroll in a journalism training school, while stressing again that his constant focus on Wike showed he doesn’t have a life.
