Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has explained the reason for his disagreement with the former governor of Anambra state and Labour Party, LP, candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Gregory Obi.
His statement was contained in a viral video that was posted on the official X handle of CHANNELS TV on Friday, August 29, 2025.
In the video that surfaced online, the human rights activist said when he had a meeting with Peter Obi and asked him to clear some allegations against him, he was not happy with the response that he gave him. He said instead of disrespecting the former governor of Anambra state, he chose to leave the premises.
He said when he was about to leave, Peter Obi went inside to bring an envelope and he rejected it.

“I didn’t want to disrespect him so I wanted to go. He got into a room and brought out one envelope and said this is just a small thing. So, I laughed and said you don’t know me. If we will do anything based on conviction, it’s me that will bring out my money to support you.
