According to a post shared on his Instagram page, chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has effectively positioned itself to aid President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid in 2027.

Momodu, a veteran journalist and political commentator, sharply criticized the PDP’s recent decision to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South. He described the move as “the most reckless decision in the history of our young democracy,” arguing that it plays directly into the hands of Tinubu and his allies.

Momodu claimed that the decision was orchestrated by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, whom he accused of working behind the scenes to ensure that PDP structures are aligned with Tinubu’s re-election. “Who did not know that ultimately the hand hand was that of Wike while the voice was that of Tinubu,” he wrote.

Momodu further accused the PDP leadership of yielding to “cheap blackmail” from politicians he described as “black sheep within the opposition” who are secretly collaborating with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He maintained that such compromises have weakened the PDP and betrayed the expectations of millions of Nigerians who once looked to it as a credible alternative.

He also dismissed ongoing speculation that former President Goodluck Jonathan, Labour Party candidate Peter Obi, or Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde might emerge as consensus candidates. According to him, those claims are nothing but “falsehoods from the pit of hell.”

Momodu concluded by warning that Wike’s growing influence within the PDP was crippling its independence, leaving the party vulnerable and incapable of presenting a united front against the APC in 2027.
