Senior Political Assistant to Atiku Abubakar, Demola Olarewaju, has stressed the importance of unity among opposition parties ahead of future elections. Speaking in a recent interview with News Central TV from 7:12, he explained that Atiku’s performance in the last general election showed both his strength and the challenges facing the opposition.

Olarewaju pointed out that despite the obstacles, Atiku still proved his relevance as a national figure. He said, “Even with that, he still won 12 states and nearly 7 million votes, coming second. The main reason we didn’t cross the line was lack of coalition. The lesson is clear: opposition must unite. That’s why you now see the ADC coalition growing. If Atiku and Peter Obi combine forces, it will be the best for Nigeria.”

According to him, the failure of opposition parties to work together created room for the ruling party to maintain power. He explained that Nigerians are eager for change, but without a united front, it becomes difficult to defeat an incumbent.

Olarewaju emphasized that the growth of the ADC coalition is a sign that political realignment is already in progress. He concluded by saying that only a strong partnership between major opposition leaders like Atiku and Peter Obi can provide Nigerians with the alternative leadership they truly desire.
