Deputy National Chairman of the Labour Party, Ayo Olorunfemi has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of being among the political figures who destabilized Nigeria’s security landscape during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

Speaking in an interview on TVC News, Olorunfemi said the opposition alliance that forced Jonathan out of power created conditions that fueled insecurity in the country.

According to him, Atiku played a key role in the political coalition of 2013 and 2014, which saw major opposition parties merge to form the All Progressives Congress. While the merger was celebrated at the time as a milestone in Nigeria’s democracy, Olorunfemi argued that it had devastating consequences for national stability.

“He was part of those people who ganged up between 2013 and 2014 to drive away Jonathan and brought insecurity to the country,” Olorunfemi alleged.

He explained that the political gang-up weakened governance during Jonathan’s administration and gave room for insurgency and banditry to thrive. The Labour Party chieftain added that the consequences of those actions are still being felt today, with Nigerians battling insecurity across different regions.

Olorunfemi further said that many of the politicians who orchestrated Jonathan’s removal from power have distanced themselves from the fallout, yet they contributed significantly to the crisis Nigeria is facing.

He called on Nigerians to critically evaluate the track record of political leaders seeking office, warning that recycled politicians may not offer solutions to the nation’s problems.
