Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers State, is responsible for the state’s losses, according to Chidi Wihioka, a former federal legislator and APC leader. on hosting Africa’s biggest refinery, which is currently in Lagos.
Wihioka told Symfoni’s live coverage how the multibillion dollar refinery project was first intended for Rivers State by business magnate Aliko Dangote before the idea was abandoned. “This refinery in Lagos, Rivers State, was constructed by Dangote in Rivers State. He (Amaechi) held Dangote in a waiting area for six hours. No regard. Dangote completed his tour of the entire Eleme region at the end of the day and was pleased with the location of his refinery. He said, “He came back. ”
According to Wihioka, Amaechi reportedly made a personal demand instead of negotiating for job opportunities and economic gains for Rivers residents. “Rather than asking Dangote ‘Okay, what are the employment prospects for Rivers State? ‘ the guy asked him: ‘What is my own share in Dangote was stunned when asked if it was “your company? ” The APC leader said that they gave him everything for free when he went to Lagos.
The refinery is there, but the consequences of that meeting have robbed Rivers of huge employment prospects and economic progress, Wihioka said. There are several jobs available in Lagos State and throughout the Southwest.
