According to a report by The Sun Nigeria on August 25, 2025, a prominent political group, “Bring Back Our Goodluck,” has launched a vigorous campaign urging former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to re-contest the Nigerian presidency in 2027.
The group, which recently kicked off its Northwest campaign in Kano, believes that Jonathan’s return to power is essential for Nigeria to recover from the current political and economic turmoil caused by the misrule of the past decade.
During a press conference held at the Aminu Kano Center for Democracy, Research and Training, Mumbayya House, in Kano State, the National Coordinator, Grema Kyari, passionately urged Nigerians to consider Jonathan’s qualities as a leader who can steer Nigeria out of its current crisis.
Kyari emphasized that the recent failures of the Buhari and Tinubu administrations have plunged Nigeria into pains, insecurity, and economic decline, making a compelling case for Jonathan’s return.
Kyari stated, “Nigeria needs a leader like Jonathan—tested, proven, and ready to restore our greatness.” He highlighted Jonathan’s track record as a peacemaker and a leader who presided over Nigeria’s most significant economic boom in decades, citing his administration’s efforts in stabilizing the economy and fostering growth.
The group pointed out that Nigeria’s current landscape is marred by insecurity, rising poverty, collapsing businesses, and soaring inflation, issues they believe Jonathan’s leadership can effectively address.
Moreover, Kyari contrasted Jonathan’s leadership qualities with the failures of both Buhari and Tinubu, asserting that the latter duo’s policies have deepened Nigeria’s woes.
“Buhari and Tinubu have failed; only Jonathan can lead Nigeria back to prosperity,” Kyari declared, asserting that Nigeria’s best chance for recovery lies in re-electing a leader who has proven his capacity to unite the nation and stimulate economic growth.
