Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has issued a stern warning to local government and ward chairmen who may allow opponents of his administration to use their offices for campaign activities.

Speaking during a media coverage by AIT News from 0:59, Governor Oyebanji responded to reports about planned opposition tours across the state. “I heard that they wanted to do a tour three times, they postponed it because they don’t know where to start. Now they are planning to tour again. I want to see the local government. I want to see the local government chairman and the ward chairman that will open their doors and offices,” he stated.

The governor challenged his critics’ approach of remaining within the ruling party while opposing his administration. “You have taken the government to court and you have told the court that all their ESCOs should be sent back. You are now going to return to the same platform. You know, if they are popular, they should go to another party and contest,” Oyebanji said.

He cited former Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko as an example of politicians who changed parties to pursue their political ambitions. “Mimiko did it in Ondo State; if they are sure of their popularity, they should not bother about anything. Let them go and adopt a new party. Then we meet at the polls,” the governor declared.

Governor Oyebanji has also vowed to take decisive action against political appointees who secretly support opposition elements while benefiting from his administration.

He labeled these unnamed appointees as saboteurs who fail to defend the government that provides their livelihood, despite remaining silent on social media platforms where his administration faces criticism.

The governor suggested that some appointees fear losing benefits they receive from opposition connections, leading them to avoid publicly supporting his administration even while holding government positions.
