The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has issued a stark warning about Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, predicting that the polls could be marred by intense violence unless urgent spiritual and collective interventions are made.
Speaking to his congregation, Ayodele stressed that opposition parties face daunting challenges ahead, not only politically but also spiritually, financially, and economically. According to him, without proper preparation, opposition leaders risk being overwhelmed by the ruling establishment.
“Supposition, if you are not up to, spiritually you must be sound. Financially, economically, but mind you, Tinubu is ready at all ramifications to frustrate you,” Ayodele declared.
The cleric warned that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would use every available means to neutralize opposition forces that threaten his political dominance. He cautioned that the president’s determination to remain in control will set the stage for a highly contentious electoral season.
“And that’s why 2027 election will be violent. It’s going to be violent. Violent,” Ayodele said emphatically. “When I say violence, violence. Serious violence. That’s what we should be praying after.”
Ayodele urged Nigerians to commit themselves to prayer and seek divine intervention to avert what he described as looming bloodshed. According to him, the intensity of political rivalry, coupled with the desperation of both ruling and opposition parties, could easily plunge the nation into chaos if not spiritually curtailed.
“Pray against violence in 2027 election. That God should cancel violence,” he pleaded. “Because so many strategies will come to destroy opposition.”
The cleric’s prophecy echoes concerns raised by civil society groups and political analysts, who have warned of the dangers of unchecked political desperation in Nigeria. His message serves as both a spiritual call and a civic reminder of the need to strengthen institutions, promote tolerance, and ensure free and fair elections.
Observers note that Ayodele has built a reputation for issuing prophecies on both local and global matters, many of which have generated national debate. His latest remarks reinforce widespread fears that Nigeria’s democracy may face severe strains as political actors intensify their struggle for power in the years ahead.
The 2027 elections are already drawing attention, with questions surrounding the capacity of opposition parties to mount a serious challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Ayodele’s prediction that “so many strategies will come to destroy opposition” underscores the likelihood of heightened political maneuvering, intimidation, and conflict if safeguards are not put in place.
Political commentators argue that beyond prayers, Ayodele’s call should motivate Nigerians to demand stronger security measures, electoral reforms, and accountability from political leaders to prevent violence. As one analyst put it, “Prophecies like these should not be dismissed but rather spark conversations about practical steps to secure peaceful elections.
