General Godwin Alabi Isama has stated that during the Nigerian Civil War, he was captured by Biafran soldiers at Agbor Junction. He said the soldiers took him to their commander, Ochei, who was someone he had known long before the war.
In an interview with Edmund Obilo from 21:46, General Isama said Ochei was his superior during their time at the Nigerian Military School and that they had also served together in Congo. He said when they returned to Lagos from that mission, his mother warmly welcomed Ochei and cared for him.
General Isama stated that Ochei refused to kill him due to their past connection. He said Ochei asked him to join the Biafran side and he agree, but after a week he escaped
In General Isama’s words: “When Ochei came, he said, ‘You Alabi, you that your mother used to look after us and give us gifts. I am not going to kill you, you are a very good officer, I worked with you, you will join us”
