APC Chieftain, Dominic Alancha, has stressed the need to prioritize competence, capacity, and governance issues in political discourse. He revealed that many Nigerians have reached out to him, urging a focus on leadership qualities that can advance governance.
He questioned the insistence on retaining the Muslim-Muslim ticket, arguing that competent Christians from the Middle Belt are equally capable of replacing Vice President Kashim Shettima on the ticket. He noted that while some claim religion should not matter in politics, the continued defense of the Muslim-Muslim arrangement contradicts that position.
He said in an interview with Channels TV from 13:57, “A lot of persons have been reaching out to me that we should talk about competence, we should talk about capacity, we should talk about issues that will advance governance. Yes, we will talk about that.
“And my question to them: Are you saying that among the Christians within the Middle Belt region we do not have competent people that can replace Shettima on the ticket? We have them. And if you are saying that religion does not matter, then why are you taking it so serious that it must be a Muslim-Muslim ticket?”
