The spokesperson of the Labour Party in Lagos State, Ife Salako, has expressed concern over what he described as false narratives being circulated about him.
In a statement posted on his official X account (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, August 21, 2025, Salako said his life, family, and business have come under threat due to his political stance.
“Too much of wrong narratives are being pushed about me and it’s getting worrisome. My life, family and business are being threatened all because I chose to support Mr. Peter Obi against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he wrote.
Salako further stated that he had been wrongly portrayed as taking sides along ethnic lines, stressing that such claims were deliberate attempts to damage his reputation.
“I have literally been tagged as one who is taking side with Igbos against Yorubas. This is a deliberate propaganda to tarnish my image. I have and will never do that!” he said.
In the same post, Salako issued a series of public apologies to individuals and groups who may have felt offended by his previous statements.
“I want to use this medium to apologize to everyone who seems offended by my posts in any way,” he stated, adding: “I want to also use this medium to apologize to Professor Wole Soyinka.”
Salako emphasized that his political commitment has always been centered on national unity and development, not division.
“All I’ve always wanted and will forever desire is a new Nigeria that will work for everyone,” he wrote. “Let’s start on a new plate.
