The incident, which involved operatives of the Agunechemba security outfit allegedly assaulting Abiola, has sparked outrage among civil rights advocates and youth groups. Many have demanded justice and called for stricter safeguards for corps members serving in the state.

While commending Agunechemba for their commitment to fighting criminality in difficult terrains, Soludo insisted that misconduct cannot be overlooked. He stressed that his administration will not hesitate to call out excesses even as it supports the group’s overall security role.

He further assured that corps members remain a vital part of community development and that their safety would not be compromised. “We value the contributions of NYSC in community development. What happened is unfortunate, and the processes to get justice are already underway,” Soludo emphasized.
