There was outrage in Anambra State after a video went viral showing some operatives of the Udogachi security outfit assaulting a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member and others. The disturbing footage caused anger among the public, with many people demanding justice for the victims.

In a video shared by SYMFONI TV, reacting to the incident, a spokesperson for Udogachi confirmed that the operatives involved had been arrested immediately after the matter came to light. He explained that the first plan was to hand them over to the police for prosecution.

But according to him, the corper involved in the viral video, together with her parents, pleaded with the group not to go ahead with prosecution.

In his words, “However, the corpers, especially this particular one that is trending, with her parents. Somebody called and said he was her father, pleaded with us that, for the sensitive nature of that video, they wouldn’t want us to hand them over to the police for prosecution.”

The spokesperson said the family explained that a trial in court could end up causing more embarrassment to the young lady. He added that they even went further to ask people in possession of the video to delete it so that it would not continue to circulate.

He also noted that during discussions, the affected individuals listed some items that were damaged during the assault, including phones, and Udogachi paid for those damages to settle the matter.
