Alphonsus Eba, the APC chairman in Cross River State, has stated that the recent bye-election in Adamawa shows that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has lost support from his people.

In an interview with AIT from 45:49, Eba said the election took place in the Ganye State Constituency, which is very close to Atiku’s hometown. In the contest, the APC candidate won the seat, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the party Atiku supported, performed very poorly.

Eba said the ADC candidate, whom Atiku personally campaigned for, managed to secure only 46 votes in the entire election. According to him, this result proves that Atiku has been rejected by his own people, since even his people did not vote for the candidate he supported.

In Eba’s words: “We just went to the field last Saturday, what is the result? Let us go back to Adamawa where the leading leader of the coalition and the one who is being taunted to have the ticket of that party (comes from). ADC scored 46 votes in the election we did in Ganye State constituency just behind the backyard of the former vice president and that has shown that he has been rejected by his people”
