In a recent Facebook post, Catholic priest Fr. Kelvin Ugwu shared his thoughts on the political chances of Labour Party’s Peter Obi.
According to him, those who constantly taunt him with claims about Obi’s future are only engaging in mockery rather than genuine political analysis.
Fr. Ugwu wrote, “Obi will never become the president of Nigeria, mark my words.”
He went further to insist that Obi’s electoral performance would not change from what had been witnessed in the past.
“Obi will come third in the election as usual, you people are just playing,” he stated.
The priest noted that such statements are often used against him by young people, not necessarily as predictions but as tools for ridicule.
He explained that their comments are rarely made with sincerity or critical thought about the nation’s political direction.
Instead, he argued, they are presented as a form of jest targeted at him.
“These are words young people throw at me as mockery,” he stressed, adding that some of those who make such remarks act as though they are offering Obi a kind of charity or favour.
