Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, has shared a personal story from his past that left a lasting impression on him.

Oshiomhole revealed how a remark about his late wife Clara and his own posture caught him by surprise.

Oshiomhole also used the moment to reflect on his days as a labour activist, recalling a significant event in Nigeria’s democratic struggles.

He remembered when a seven-man delegation of labour leaders, under the leadership of then-NLC president Pascal Bafyau, visited the Presidential Villa during the regime of General Ibrahim Babangida.

In a video shared by Symfoni TV from 4:58, Oshiomhole said, “As we entered, he said, ‘Oh Adam, you walk like a military officer.’ He then said, ‘How is your wife, Clara?’ That’s the name of my late wife, so I was like, how does this man know my wife’s name?.”

The senator noted that the encounter left him reflecting on the kind of influence and awareness leaders in power held, even about the personal lives of those who challenged them.

According to him, such moments shaped his understanding of leadership, service, and the responsibility to stand for ordinary Nigerians.

Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State and ex-president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), stressed that his years in the labour movement were not only about agitation but also about courage and conviction.

He emphasized that the democratic space enjoyed today was built on sacrifices made by labour leaders who were willing to confront power, regardless of the risks.
