According to report by The Times of Israel on Saturday August 16, 2025, Israel has made it clear that it will not accept any deal that releases hostages in parts. This comes after reports that Hamas may be willing to agree to a 60-day ceasefire plan, where only half of the hostages would be released first, and peace talks would continue later.
Sources close to the talks, including an Israeli official and an Arab diplomat, said Hamas negotiators in Cairo are now showing signs of compromise. Last month, the talks in Doha failed because Hamas made strong demands. But now, they may return to an older plan that includes releasing some hostages and discussing how to end the war.
However, Israel is not backing down. The Prime Minister’s Office said the country will only accept a full deal. That means all hostages must be released at once. Israel also wants Hamas to give up all weapons, Gaza to be free of armed groups, and Israel to control the borders around Gaza. They also want new leaders in Gaza who are not part of Hamas or the Palestinian Authority and who are ready to live peacefully with Israel.
Their statement reads, “The Prime Minister’s Office clarifies that Israel will agree to a deal on condition that all the hostages are released in one go, and in accordance with our conditions for ending the war that include the disarming of Hamas, the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, Israeli control of the Gaza perimeter, and the installation of non-Hamas and non-Palestinian Authority governance that will live in peace with Israel.”
