Hon. Charles C. Anike, President of the Eastern Union, has declared that another victory for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2027 will change Nigeria’s political balance, as reported by Daily Independent on Sunday, 17 August, 2025.
Anike said that if Tinubu remains in power, the era of northern domination in national politics would come to an end.
According to him, the North has enjoyed political control for decades, often deciding the direction of leadership in the country.
He stressed that Tinubu’s continued rule would mark a major turning point.
He insisted that the North would, for the first time, understand what it meant to be marginalised.
He explained that northern leaders had always projected themselves as custodians of political power.
However, he noted that Tinubu’s strong hold on both the APC structure and the presidency had shifted the balance toward the South.
Anike further warned that if Tinubu was allowed to manipulate the system and secure another term, the North would lose its long-standing grip.
He argued that such a development would redefine the power equation in Nigeria.
”If Tinubu is allowed to rig himself into power again 2027, the north will know what it means to be marginalised,” he said.
