Veteran Nollywood actress Ayo Mogaji has recounted one of the worst experiences she has had in her film making career, while also stating she was able to overcome the situation at the time.
According to the video that was posted on the official YouTube channel of Doyin Kukoyi TV on Saturday, August 16, 2025, during an interview, she made it known that she was attacked and beaten by some people in Lagos State because of a role she played in a movie.
According to Ayo Mogaji, she said, “There was a time that some of our fans weren’t overly enlightened about the fact that everything we do in movies is just acting. I played a movie role in a movie where I was a gossiper, and I used to counter the other actress that played another movie role. I was attacked and beaten by some people in Lagos, and they tore my clothes in public. It was a woman who was selling fabrics that rescued me by taking me to her shop, and she gave me other clothes to wear.”
