A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Dan Ulasi, has alleged that Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori are regretting their decisions to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in an interview with Channels TV from 28:21, Ulasi claimed to have insider knowledge of the governors’ current predicament while praising the performance of remaining PDP state governors.

Ulasi highlighted the strong governance record of PDP-controlled states as evidence of the party’s effective leadership. “We have ten PDP governors, and if you go to their states where they are governing, excellent work is being done there. Go to Bauchi, for instance. Go to Enugu state—the governor is about the best-performing governor in this country,” he said.

Ulasi expressed disappointment with the two former PDP governors’ decision to switch parties while claiming direct knowledge of their current situation. “You don’t know what informs people when they move from this party to that party, like it happened in Akwa Ibom and Delta. It’s unfortunate,” he stated.

The PDP chieftain claimed to maintain communication with the defected governors, providing insight into their alleged regrets. “I’ve been talking with the defected governors, and what they are seeing where they have moved to in the APC is unfortunate. They feel engaged in a spectacle. They can’t go forward or backward,” he stated.

The PDP leader attributed the governors’ defection to external pressures rather than genuine political conviction. “But it is because there have been a lot of pressures on them before they moved,” he explained.

The PDP Chieftain further argued that the current APC is being led by President Bola Tinubu, whom he described as a highly strategic politician. He emphasized that his use of the term “strategic” encompasses multiple dimensions of political acumen.

He indicated that he does not underestimate the president’s political capabilities, expressing respect for Tinubu’s tactical skills. He warned that any effort to challenge the ruling party for power would require a serious and well-coordinated approach.
