The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Anambra State, Jude Ezenwafor has given fresh details about the recent assassination attempt on his life, revealing that the attackers used a black Mercedes G-Wagon.

Speaking in an interview on Arise News, Ezenwafor explained that he was able to review CCTV footage which showed the vehicle used by the suspects. “I was able to see the CCTV. They came with black G-Wagon. They followed me from either Hilton or hanged around. So, the police are on it and I’m in contact with FCT Police,” he said.

The PDP candidate stated that the incident occurred shortly after he attended a meeting, suggesting that the assailants may have either trailed him from the venue or waited nearby until he emerged. He described the attack as a targeted assassination attempt aimed at silencing him ahead of the Anambra governorship election.

Ezenwafor confirmed that the matter is being investigated by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, with whom he has maintained direct communication. He expressed confidence that the attackers would be identified and brought to justice, while also calling for heightened security for political candidates.

He emphasized that political contests should not degenerate into life-threatening situations, urging all stakeholders to commit to peaceful and issue-based campaigns. Despite the attempt on his life, Ezenwafor said he remains committed to his political ambition and to serving the people of Anambra State.

The police have yet to release further details of the investigation or confirm whether any arrests have been made, however, the revelation of the CCTV footage and the black G-Wagon has given investigators a crucial lead in tracking down the perpetrators.
