David Ogede, an eyewitness to the incident between Ms. Comfort Emmanson and Ibom Air cabin crew, has shared his side of the story, saying he felt compelled to speak up because the public was only hearing one version.

In an interview with Channels Television from 5.09, according to him, the dominant narrative online painted Ms. Emmanson as a typical unruly Nigerian who refused to follow simple flight instructions. But Ogede says that wasn’t the full picture.

“It took me a lot to come out,” he explained, citing personal reasons. “But I thought it was important because what happened wasn’t just about indiscipline.”

Ogede recalled that there were two hostesses involved in the matter. The first, he said, handled the situation professionally and politely. “Ibom Air should even give her an award,” he said.

The second hostess, however, acted very differently. Ogede described her behavior as driven by ego. “The second Air hostess felt, ‘Who is this girl to talk to me or do whatever?’ Then she wanted to show she had power. That’s what led to this.”

Ogede believes Ibom Air should take the opportunity to learn from the incident, offering more training to staff to avoid unnecessary escalation. “Everyone learns from situations, and we don’t have to escalate issues,” he said.
