Mustakeem Balogun, Soliudeen Majekodunmi and Lukmon Abdulgafa were recently convicted of the killing of a 16-year-old girl Sophia Okeowo in Ogun State. Sophia was killed when she visited Balogun on January 29, 2022.
Reports revealed that Balogun and his friends sexually assaulted her before strangling and beheading her. Her body was stuffed into a sack, and her head was burned in an attempt to hide the crime.
In a video shared by AIT, Segun Adewusi, a vigilante group leader in Ogun State who apprehended the killers, stated that when he arrived at the house, he found the killers inside the toilet. He said they were using a small bowl to carry Sophia’s blood from a room to the toilet. He explained that they were trying to clean the house to remove all evidence of the crime.
In Adewusi’s words: “When we got to the front of the house, we noticed that the killers of Sophia were inside toilet, they were using small bowl to fetch her blood from this room to the toilet in an effort to clean the house of any traces.
