Charles Oputa, a musician popularly known as Charly Boy, has stated that his stay in America was short because of a violent racist attack he suffered.
Speaking in an interview with IrokopostTV, Charly Boy said the incident happened while he was taking a walk with two white women. He said one of the women was his baby mama and the other was her sister. He explained that during the walk, seven white men suddenly jumped out of a car and attacked him.
Charly Boy said the men beat him so badly that he was left covered in injuries and they also spat on him during the assault.
Charly Boy said the beating was so severe that he had to spend about a week in the hospital to recover. He stated that the experience made him realize how dangerous and cruel racism could be, and it was one of the main reasons he decided to leave America
