The Presidency on Sunday denied reports suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is seriously ill and receiving urgent medical attention, as reported by Daily Post on Monday, August 11, 2025.
The report, published by the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR), alleged that the president had been bedridden for several days and that arrangements were being made to fly him abroad for treatment.
According to the ICIR, sources within Aso Rock claimed that President Tinubu had not attended any public functions throughout the week due to health concerns.
The report also noted that key events, including the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, were cancelled, further fueling speculation about the president’s condition.
In response, the Special Adviser to the president on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga dismissed the report as false and unfounded.
He maintained that there is no health crisis involving the president and described the claims as misleading and irresponsible.
The government clarified that the president retains the option to work from any location, including his private residence, depending on the nature of his schedule and assignments.
Onanuga said, “There is nothing wrong with the president, he is okay. He can choose to work from home. He can choose to work from anywhere. I tell you nothing is wrong with the president.”
