Governor Uba Sani has stated that the entire military force in Nigeria has about 250,000 personnel, and the police force is also fewer than 400,000. He said even when both forces are combined, they do not reach 700,000.

In an interview with Arise TV, Sani said there are still many areas in the country that are not properly governed or protected, especially in the northwest where Nigeria shares borders with several countries.

Governor Sani said in the early 1970s, the number of military personnel in Nigeria was more than 300,000. He said it is surprising that even though Nigeria’s population has tripled since then, the number of military personnel has dropped instead of increasing.
