A member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has painted a picture of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike as a largely absent figure within party structures, while accusing him of actively working against the party’s interests in various states.

Speaking on Arise TV, PDP chieftain Jacob Mark acknowledged Wike’s work ethic while questioning the authenticity of his party membership given his apparent disengagement from party activities.

“Wike is a hardworking person in his own right. If he says he’s a member of the PDP, that’s his cup of tea. But we don’t see him,” Mark stated during the television interview.

Drawing on his position within the party’s highest decision-making body, Mark provided specific details about Wike’s absence from key party meetings and activities.

“I’m a member of NEC. He has not attended NEC in the last one year,” Mark revealed. “We are involved in many things. The PDP has done many things. He has never participated and does not contribute to anything PDP is doing.”

The PDP leader went beyond criticizing Wike’s absence, making serious allegations about the governor’s active opposition to party interests across multiple states.

“In fact, he has boasted that he has supported opponents of the PDP in several states to make sure the PDP fails,” Mark claimed.

Mark concluded with a rhetorical question that challenged the very foundation of Wike’s party membership, given his alleged actions against party interests.

The accusations highlight the deep tensions within the PDP regarding members who maintain party affiliation while serving in opposing political camps, particularly as Wike continues to serve as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory under President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress administration.
