A Nigerian singer-songwriter, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has reacted to the recent renaming of Charly Boy Bus Stop in Lagos State.
According to reports, the Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has officially renamed Charly Boy Bus Stop to Baddo Bus Stop, in recognition of popular rapper Olamide Adedeji, also known as Baddo, as a move to acknowledge individuals who have elevated the community’s name, both locally and internationally, through their crafts.
However, during an interview with News Central TV from 3:10, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, generally known as Charly Boy, criticized the development, labeling it as tribalistic.
He described it as silly and petty, as no one can ever beat his records as to his impact on the Bariga community.
While reacting to the development, Charly Boy said, “I just believe that it was a little bit silly and petty.”
