Senator Natasha Akpoti has stated that it was not the Senate that appealed Justice Binta Nyako’s opinion asking for her suspension to be lifted. She said the appeal was personally filed by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, not the entire Senate or the National Assembly.

In a video shared by TV Platinum from 3:21, Natasha said she has court documents that clearly show that Akpabio was the only person who filed the appeal. She said that the Senate, the National Assembly, and the Committee on Ethics—all of which were involved in her suspension—did not appeal the judgment. She said Akpabio actually listed the Clerk of the National Assembly, the entire Senate, and the Ethics Committee as respondents in the appeal.

Natasha said this means Akpabio is taking legal action against Clerk of the NASS, the entire Senate, and the Ethics Committee. She also said it is important for Nigerians to understand this clearly and not to be misled by false reports on social media.

In Natasha’s words: “As a matter of fact, Senator Akpabio joined the clerk of the National Assembly, the entire Senate and the Chairman of Committee on Ethics as joint respondents to the case. That means Akpabio has taken the National Assembly, Senate, the clerk and the Committee to court. Do you understand, that must be clarified”
