In an interview with The Punch, Bashir Ahmad, who served as the former Senior Special Assistant on New Media and Digital Communications to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, discussed Buhari’s post-presidency decisions and the reasoning behind his relocation to Kaduna State.

Ahmad shared that prior to moving to Kaduna, Buhari had expressed his comfort living in Daura, citing its peaceful atmosphere and the chance to be close to his family after many years of limited time with them. Ahmad said the former president initially viewed Daura as a place of reunion and relaxation with his loved ones.

However, Ahmad revealed that Buhari eventually chose to relocate to Kaduna due to logistical concerns. Buhari had mentioned that the frequent visits from people were becoming difficult to manage because Daura lacked an airport. Visitors were forced to land in Kano or Katsina and then drive to Daura.

To ease the strain on his guests and ensure easier access, Buhari moved to Kaduna, which has better transportation facilities, especially an airport, making it more convenient for those wishing to see him.
