Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party Presidential Candidate, has responded to Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka’s criticism, saying it’s up to Nigerians to decide if he’s fit to rule. In an interview with Arise News from 29:18, Obi highlighted his achievements in the private sector and as a former governor, challenging his critics to compare their records with his.
Obi emphasized his success in business and his accomplishments as a governor, noting that during his tenure, he worked towards achieving the Millennial Development Goals (MDGs), which were the global standard for development at the time. He expressed confidence in his abilities and invited scrutiny, asking Nigerians to evaluate his record and decide if he’s fit to lead the country.
In his words;
“It’s left for Nigerians to know whether I’m fit or not. I’ve been a successful Business man in the private sector, I’ve been in the corporate world, I can say I’m one of the most successful. I’ve also served a state where I still challenge those who have served. Let’s put our records side by side and let me know and when I served, the only measure of development was the Millennial Development goals which I started seven years after”….Sée Móre
