The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ibrahim Abdullahi, has reacted to Atiku Abubakar’s exit from the party, saying the PDP is not worried and is actually moving forward.
Abdullahi noted that this is Atiku’s fourth time leaving the PDP, and each time he finds a reason to do so. He said this shows that Atiku’s loyalty to the party may not be as strong as it should be.
According to him, the PDP has not lost sleep over Atiku’s decision. Instead, the party is becoming stronger and more united. “We’re beginning to get our house together,” he said.
He revealed that since Atiku’s departure, many people have been calling to congratulate the party. Abdullahi explained that some Nigerians had stayed away from PDP because they believed Atiku always got the party’s ticket, even when it didn’t follow the zoning agreement.
“Now people are beginning to say, ‘You are getting it right.’ And by God’s grace, we’ll cross the bridge this time,” he added.
Abdullahi wished Atiku well in his new political journey with the opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC). However, he also expressed concern that Atiku might return if the coalition fails.
“I only pray he won’t fail in his promise by coming back after the so-called coalition hits the rocks,” Abdullahi said.
The PDP, he stressed, is moving on with hope and confidence in a better future.
