According to a report by Daily Post on July 17, 2025, Iyiola Omisore, a former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissed the rising momentum of the opposition coalition, arguing that internal rivalries among its key figures could jeopardize its prospects in the 2027 general elections. He described the coalition’s unity as fragile, driven by competing presidential ambitions.

Speaking on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ on Wednesday, Omisore expressed confidence in the APC’s position, stating he was unconcerned by the coalition’s growing influence. He highlighted the involvement of prominent figures like Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, and Rotimi Amaechi, but emphasized that their individual desires to lead could fracture the alliance.

He said, “You can see that after that meeting, Obi said he wants to be president, Atiku said the same, Rotimi said the same thing, and Aminu Tambuwal too. So, how are we sure that they are going to continue on this full list? Let us watch and see. ”

Omisore’s remarks suggest that the opposition’s apparent strength is undermined by a lack of cohesive leadership, predicting that these internal conflicts will weaken their challenge against the APC. His analysis points to a strategic advantage for the ruling party as the 2027 elections approach.
