Former Commissioner for Information in Edo State, Charles Idahosa, has revealed that Governor Godwin Obaseki’s departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was due to his disregard for PDP leaders.

Idahosa, who played a crucial role in his second term ticket and victory in the 2020 governorship election, made this disclosure on Tuesday in Benin.

It should be recalled that Idahosa defected to APC from PDP in 2020.

According to the report by Daily Post on Tuesday, Idahosa stated that Obaseki was victimized, and that he (Idahosa) stood up against former governor Adams Oshiomhole, who was then APC national chairman.

He disclosed that he and his supporters joined Obaseki in PDP, enabling him to secure the ticket and win the election.

However, Idahosa expressed frustration with Obaseki’s lack of fairness to party leaders and those who supported him in 2020.

He challenged Obaseki to name those he claimed wanted him to share state money. Idahosa left the party due to Obaseki’s unfair treatment and the state’s lack of development in the last seven years.

He said, “Unfortunately, when he came, he wasn’t fair to the people and party leaders that helped him to power.

“He keeps saying that people are angry with him because they wanted him to share state money with them, and I have challenged him to mention the names of the people so that the whole world will know them.
