Femi Adesina, the former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to late President Muhammadu Buhari, has shared a touching story about his old boss that reveals how simple and disciplined the former president was.
During an interview with Channels Television from 7:51, Adesina described Buhari as a very frugal and humble man, even when he held the most powerful office in the country.
He recalled one evening when he visited President Buhari at the Presidential Villa during dinner time. The president kindly invited him to join him at the table. As Adesina looked at the buffet, he was surprised by how little the president chose to eat.
“If you saw what the president ate, he took couscous, just a small quantity,” Adesina said. “Then he picked a few grapes. That was all. And I was telling myself, see the president of this huge, blessed country. That was all he ate.”
Adesina explained that this was not a one-time thing. Every time he saw Buhari eat, it was always a very modest and simple meal. “He was such a frugal person. Very frugal,” he added.
He also noted that those who say Buhari wasn’t really that simple probably never knew him well. According to Adesina, the late president lived what he preached — a life of modesty and discipline.
