Akin Osuntokun, who served as the Director General of the Peter Obi campaign, has spoken about the violence he saw against Igbo voters in Lagos after the 2023 election, calling it a “very traumatic experience.” He recounted how he saw people being beaten and stopped from voting, which he found deeply disturbing.
According to a video from ARISE NEWS from 12:37, he said he personally moved around parts of Lagos and saw Igbo residents “cowering together” in fear after some had been attacked. He also shared a personal encounter where he was threatened by someone who appeared to be a political enforcer, which made him question the direction the country was heading.
Osuntokun said, “It’s a very traumatic experience for me. They were hounding the Igbo people. I did a lot of, I moved around and I saw them cowering together. Some of them have been brutalized. And I said what is this? Where are we going? This was in Lagos. This was in Lagos. And then when I was, they didn’t allow them to vote. The man who appeared to be the big man now was threatening me, pushing me. So I said, well, so you can now imagine a situation where a man is the sitting president.”
