A former presidential candidate and a Chieftain of the Labour Party, LP, Prof Pat Utomi, has noted that each time he thinks of June 12, he remembers the man who was his teacher at University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, in 1973, Professor Humphrey Nwosu, who was the chairman of the Electoral Commission that conducted the 1993 presidential election.
Speaking further, Professor Utomi demanded to whether any street was named after him in Abuja or Lagos State, noting that as the chairman of the electoral commission, he confounded doubters with option A4. Utomi went on and made it known that those who put themselves above the nation refused to accept the truth.
Professor Pat Utomi made this disclosure in a post he made on his official X handle on Monday afternoon. He went on and noted that he (Utomi) survived two assassination attempts and police beatings on the streets of Lagos, even as an executive in industry.
Professor Utomi wrote: “When I think of June 12 I think of the man who was my teacher at UNN in October 1973. It was his first class fresh from his PhD. Prof. Humphrey Nwosu would deliver as Chairman of the Electoral commission. Where is the street named for him in Abuja and Lagos.
“As chairman he confounded doubters with option A4. But those who put self above others and the nation refused truth. And some of us said hiding behind personal privilege was not manhood. I survived two assassination attempts and police beatings on the streets of Lagos even as an executive in industry.”….Sée Móre
