Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has reacted to a viral photo of Labour Party’s Peter Obi personally serving food at a community outreach, calling it a staged performance.

The photo, which emerged on July 10, 2025, shows the former Anambra State Governor distributing food to residents of Umuchima Town, Imo State, as part of a church-led outreach initiative.

The event was reportedly organized in alignment with the Catholic Church’s observance of the 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope, declared by Pope Francis, and focused on supporting low-income families.

Obi, who was seen interacting directly with beneficiaries, has long cultivated a public image of humility and grassroots engagement. Social media users praised his gesture, calling it “leadership by example.”

But Olayinka took to X (formerly Twitter) to question the sincerity of the act. He wrote:

“It is all for the camera. Every food distribution has a photo – op attack to it. If not staged, why the perfect camera angles?”
