The spokesperson of the North Central Chapter of the Obidient Movement, Emmanuel Idakwo, has stated whenever they speak about His Excellency Peter Obi, they always tell people to go and verify because there are verifiable facts to support everything associated with him.
He said that claims questioning Peter Obi’s candidacy are distractions and urged Nigerians to verify facts themselves, stressing that Obi’s record and credentials are publicly verifiable.
Speaking in an interview from 3:58 with Arise News, Idakwo made this statement when he was asked to react to comments by Labour Party chieftain Abayomi Arabambi, who suggested that the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, should withdraw from the 2027 race over alleged discrepancies in his names.
He described Arabambi as a politician known for factional politics, recalling his prominence during the 2023 election cycle within the Lamidi Apapa faction of the Labour Party. He said Arabambi’s current approach is to create controversy in order to remain relevant and that Nigerians are already familiar with such tactics.
He argued that the conversation should be focused on issues affecting the country rather than on what he called baseless allegations. According to him, Nigerians are currently asking serious questions about transparency and leadership, including about the academic records of President Bola Tinubu.
He said the public wants clarity on Tinubu’s basic educational history. He noted that Obi has a known history in banking, business, and politics and that his track record is in the public domain.
In his words, “And if you look at the personality of His Excellency Peter Obi, it’s very clear. You could just Google it and you would see very clearly his names. It’s very clear for everyone to see.”
“He has been someone who has been very active, has worked in banking, in trading, and also in politics. And his track record is clear.”
“And that is why every time we speak about His Excellency Peter Obi, we always tell people to go and verify because we have verifiable facts to everything that you can attach to his person. So for him as a person, Mr. Peter Obi, he is focused on the issues.”
