Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and former Labour Party presidential aspirant has made a powerful revelation that twist the narratives about religion and ethic politics in Nigeria. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that during his courtesy visit to the Dantata family, he redeemed a pledge to renovate the Mosque.
The family of late Alhaji Dantata, a well known businessman mogul from Kano state welcomed several dignitaries from across the country who converged to pay homage to the oligarch, a beloved figure in the North.
Notable amongst those present was the former governor of Anambra State and 2023 Labour Party presidential aspirant, Peter Obi who joined several mourners to express their grief of Alhaji Dantata’s demise.
However, according to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, the former Anambra governor made a striking revelation that cast shadows on power play and party politics in Nigeria.
According to his statements, during his visit to the family, he joined other congregants at the Triumph Juma’at Mosque to offer prayers, there, he redeemed his pledge to renovate the Mosque.
He further pointed out that places of worship were vital pillars in building unity and when given the opportunity, one should endeavor to support them.
“Yesterday in Kano after visiting and condoling the Dantata, and Maitama Sule (Dan Masanin Kano) families, I joined the congregants at the Triumph Juma’at Mosque for prayers and redeem my token pledge to support the Mosque renovation….” He wrote.
