A group of 35 Representatives in the House has proposed a bill to change the constitution. They want the president and governors to serve for only one six-year term. They also want to rotate who becomes president among the six different parts of the country. They think this will make sure everyone is treated fairly and reduce arguments about making new states, as reported by Vanguard.

The leader of the group, Rep. Ikenga Ugochinyere from Imo State, talked about this at a meeting in Abuja. He said lawmakers also want to change the constitution to recognize the six different parts of Nigeria. They believe this will help with making decisions fairly across the country.

“The 1st vice shall be a succession Vice president, while the 2nd Vice president shall be a Minister in charge of the Economy, and both shall be Ministers,” he stated.

He also stated that more power should be given to local government councils by making sure they control their own money, stating that if anyone misuses money meant for local governments, they should go to prison for a long time.
