Popular Nigerian prophet and televangelist, Joshua Iginla, has reinforced his prophetic message on the need for powerful, strategic leadership in Nigeria, likening the presidency to a lion’s throne that only another lion can conquer.

While delivering a sermon, Iginla metaphorically described Nigeria’s leadership dynamics, saying those aiming for the presidency must possess equal or greater strength than the current officeholder if they hope to succeed.

“The man in charge now is a lion,” he proclaimed. “And if anyone intends to take over, they too must be a lion. You can’t take the sty with a sheep.”

Iginla emphasized that he was speaking from a spiritual and prophetic perspective, not as a partisan figure. “I am not aligned politically,” he said. “As a prophet, I speak based on divine revelation, not political bias.”

He openly admitted that, at present, no contender has emerged with the lion-like qualities required to effectively challenge the current president. “As of now, I’ve seen no one with the stature for such a task,” he confessed.

His comments have sparked intense reactions and speculation among political analysts and followers of his ministry. The lion metaphor has become a focal point of conversation, especially in light of his past advice to opposition candidates like Peter Obi, encouraging them to lead boldly rather than settle for subordinate roles.

In Nigeria’s political space, where religious leaders significantly influence voters, Iginla’s message has intensified the call for strong, courageous leaders who can confront deeply rooted power structures.

A member of his congregation summarized the sentiment: “It will take a lion to dethrone another lion.”

Prophet Iginla stressed that leadership is more than ambition—it requires preparation, spiritual strength, and the resolve to transform the nation.

“To change Nigeria’s narrative, you need more than popularity,” he said. “You need spiritual weight and the courage to carry the burden of leadership.”
