According to the report from Channels Television, Nollywood actor and Labour Party chieftain, Kenneth Okonkwo, has voiced strong concerns over the prospects of former presidential candidate Peter Obi running again in the 2027 general elections, warning that the same alleged electoral irregularities from 2023 could recur.
Speaking during a political discussion, Okonkwo said, “My belief in 2023, I believed they stole it from us. Let me ask you, if you do it again, they will steal it again from you because there’s no incumbent to back you.”
He further suggested that political strategy might need to shift in favor of regional dynamics if real change is to be achieved. “But if you bring somebody from the North, nobody will prevail on him to leave his victory quickly, because he’s not on the same side as you,” he added.
Okonkwo’s remarks come amid growing speculation about whether Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, will contest again in 2027. His comments reflect ongoing frustrations within the opposition over what they allege was a manipulated electoral process in the previous cycle.
