A young Nigerian woman identified as Dina has narrated the horrifying details of her kidnapping and sexual assault at the hands of criminals posing as taxi drivers in Abuja.
Her experience, shared during an emotional interview on The Lucky Udu Experience, has sparked shock and outrage over the growing insecurity in the nation’s capital.
Dina explained that the incident occurred while she was returning from work.
She unsuspectingly boarded what appeared to be a regular taxi, unaware that it was operated by suspected kidnappers and organ traffickers.
“They told me I had only two people to call and I said, ‘I was going to call my mom.’ So immediately, I called her. When I called, she exclaimed and told me to calm down, not to be afraid—that everything was going to be fine,” Dina said.
The kidnappers then contacted her mother, threatening to kill her if a ransom wasn’t paid. “They called her the first time to inform her that I was in trouble. Then they called her again and said she should send them five million naira,” she added.
Dina’s mother, a Federal Road Safety official and the family’s sole provider, pleaded for more time to raise the money.
“She tried borrowing, but it didn’t work out because the time was too short,” Dina said.
As negotiations dragged on, Dina was subjected to brutal violence.
“They beat me mercilessly. I didn’t even understand what was happening anymore. They said I was wasting their time and told me to remove my dress.”
“They undressed me. One of them asked if I was married. I said no. Then he asked why I was busty and began beating me again.”
The abuse escalated into sexual violence when one of the kidnappers suggested they could forgo the ransom if she allowed them to molest her.
“I begged for my life because there’s nothing I fear like rape. I told them my parents would bring the money, but they said no, it had to be done in the car,” she said.
Despite her pleas, Dina was molested repeatedly by the abductors inside the vehicle.
“They exchanged seats. The one at the back moved to the front, and another came to the back. They said it had to be done in the car—no amount of begging could stop them.”
“They took turns molesting me. I cried and begged them. At that point, I just asked God to just take my life because I couldn’t take it anymore.”
To further pressure her family, the kidnappers took photos of her and sent them to her mother, reinforcing their threats. “My dad is sick, but he sent a voice note crying. It broke me into pieces.”
Dina revealed that she never told her family the full extent of the abuse out of shame and fear.
“I didn’t tell them I was raped. I only said they beat me, because I didn’t want them to look at me differently.
