The African Democratic Congress (ADC) website crashed three times today, a clear sign of surging public interest following the recent coalition announcement uniting opposition leaders Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi. The development, highlighted by Demola Olarewaju, Special Assistant on Digital Media and Strategy to Atiku is said to underscore a potential shift in Nigeria’s political landscape as the party positions itself as a viable alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Olarewaju, commenting on the X platform, noted, “ADC website has crashed three times since the coalition was announced: Nigerians have been waiting for an alternative to APC, and it is advertising itself already.” His statement is said to reflect optimism about the coalition’s appeal, drawing parallels to the 2015 APC merger that ended the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) 16-year dominance.

The coalition, formalized on July 3, as reported by Punch, has already sparked debate, with Olarewaju urging supporters to focus on growth rather than premature presidential ticket discussions. Responding to a supporter’s query about Obi’s role, he added, “May your movement continue to grow also,” acknowledging the “Obidients” while emphasizing party-building over factionalism.
