‎Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has pledged to stand against election rigging and poor governance in Nigeria, as reported by Punch on Sunday, 6th July, 2025.

‎He made this promise during a meeting with political stakeholders from Gombe State.

‎The Gombe delegation, led by former minister and senator Idris Abdullahi, visited Atiku to show their support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

‎The ADC is now the political platform adopted by the opposition coalition to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

‎Atiku expressed his worry about the current state of the nation.

‎He said Nigerians are suffering despite the country’s rich resources.

‎He believes this hardship is due to failed leadership.

‎He told the visiting delegation that it was time for change.

‎He said he would not allow future elections to be stolen.

‎He also promised to support efforts to restore honesty and accountability in government.

‎According to Atiku, the opposition coalition is preparing to bring new leadership to Nigeria.

‎He said the leaders in the coalition are working hard to deliver positive change.

‎He believes the interim leadership of the ADC already shows signs of seriousness and integrity.

‎Atiku praised the Gombe delegation for backing the ADC.

‎He said their decision showed that people were beginning to believe in the coalition’s mission.

‎He recalled how he helped develop Gombe in the past, including his support for Danjuma Goje’s emergence as governor in 2003.

‎The former vice president said he would continue to push for good governance and fair elections.

‎He urged all Nigerians to support the movement for a better country.

The opposition coalition hopes to defeat the APC in the 2027 elections.

‎Atiku said the coming election would not just be about parties, but about choosing between progress and continued hardship.‎

“Yesterday, I vowed to stand against the stealing of elections and oppose bad governance. I stressed that enough is enough, and that Nigerians cannot continue to suffer amidst an abundance of resources owing to bad governance.”

“The quality of the interim leadership shows that we are ready to bring integrity to the process and give Nigerians the responsible leadership they deserve,” Atiku stated.
