Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, sharply criticized activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju for comments targeting Wike, as reported by Vanguard News on Saturday, 5th July, 2025
In a post on his verified X handle, Olayinka accused Adeyanju of seeking to profit from the opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), alleging he misappropriated funds during the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) 2015 social media campaign. Olayinka further claimed Adeyanju abandoned a woman he impregnated in Keffi, intensifying the personal nature of the attack.
Adeyanju had urged former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi to refrain from engaging Wike directly, asserting that Amaechi was “too big” to respond and offering to counter Wike’s rhetoric himself.
Responding to Adeyanju, Olayinka posted on X: “One online baseless lawyer, who impregnated a lady that he met in Keffi, Nasarawa State, who gave birth to a boy and he abandoned both mother and son, will also be talking about coalition.”
The feud stems from ongoing tensions between Wike and Amaechi, former Rivers State governors, which have escalated since Amaechi joined the ADC coalition to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027. Olayinka’s remarks aim to discredit Adeyanju while defending Wike’s political stance, highlighting the deepening rift within Nigeria’s political landscape as opposition forces consolidate and personal accusations fuel public discourse ahead of the elections.
